Not Yes and No

I want to preach a message today titled ‘Not Yes and No’. We give God praise for His Word is quick and powerful; Amen.

Have you ever had someone promise you something but they really knew they wouldn’t fulfil it in their mind? You probably have. Even more so, have you ever seen someone saying ‘Yes’ (pretentiously) but actually means ‘No’?

In 2 Cor 1, Paul the Apostle tells the Corinthian church about how He was minded to come unto them.

2 Cor 1:15 – “And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit;”

But he changed his mind. The Apostle, however, explains that He did not make his decision in a worldly manner. Like people who say ‘Yes, Yes’ but really mean ‘No, No’.

The Apostle further explains that such is not Christ. But in Christ is ‘Yes’ to all the promises of God. And that ‘Yes’ is actually ‘Yes’, and not ‘No’.

2 Cor 1:20 – “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”

Today, I’ve brought a message to you of our certain and assured confidence. That all the promises of God in Christ are standing, living, and will never fail.

God is not a man that he should lie, neither a son of man that he should repent. When He says, He does. When He promises, He performs. Num 23:19.

As he has said ‘Yes’ in Christ, he neither said it pretentiously, nor in deception. When He Says you are forgiven, you are forgiven. When he says you are sanctified, you are sanctified.

When He says He is for you, he doesn’t turn round and come against you. When He says He is with you, it is a ‘Yes’ and a ‘Yes’ it is.

The promises of God in Christ to you are ‘Yea’ and not deceptive. They are with you when you feel like it, they are still there when you don’t. They do not move by circumstances or physical states.

They are present when you feel worthy, they are still there when you don’t. The promises of God in Christ to you are ‘Yes’, and that ‘Yes’ actually means ‘YES.’ Unchanging, certain, and everlasting for everyone in Christ.

We are the blessed.
